Elizabeth Shearer Named DPS 2010 Principal of the Year
Elizabeth Shearer of City of Medicine Academy was named 2010 Durham Public Schools’ Principal of the Year. Superintendent Eric J. Becoats and Lewis Ferebee, Chief of Staff, visited CMA to make the surprise announcement. Mrs. Shearer will now represent the district in the North Carolina Wachovia Principal of the Year competition.
Elizabeth Shearer has worked in Durham Public Schools since 1993.
She has been principal of CMA since 2008 and served as principal of
Lakewood Elementary from 2005-2008. Shearer also worked as a
program administrator at Hillside High School from 2002-2005 and was
principal at E.K. Powe Elementary from 1996-2002. In addition,
she was an assistant principal at Holt Elementary from 1993-1996.
